If there's another flight slot with outbound confirmed (before your inbound, obviously), you can ticket that and rebook when (if) your desired outbound clears close-in.

You incur one cancellation fee if it doesn't.

You are encouraged to declare you'll be no-showing the outbound flight (you might as do it right away if there's no reasonable possibility you can travel that dummy outbound).
