This is exactly what I was going to say. Swiss has had branded fares on European routes for a few years now. I have had some tickets issued by Amex in Canada who took a long time to figure out how to issue a branded fare. The issue is that the CRS is basically programmed to take lowest price in a fare bucket. For Swiss, the lowest is always the "Light" fare which has no bags, no seat selection. My wife actually has a business fare with me next month ZRH-CDG which is a Light fare and has no bags. But - we did get seat selection.
Points still seem to go based on fare class and not brand. However - to get the branded fare to be chosen for the ticket is a new process.
It will be interesting to see how this all goes for AC.
