Is that just because you would have to do that manually as a second step? Or are they using misleading words to try and have you not cancel?
if it was a TA issued ticket that could add a dimension of complexity, otherwise...just another odd UA iT item (and perhaps whatever set of circumstances caused it to pop up is rare enough that it will never be fixed. While 90% of my tickets are refundable I'd guess that as a proportion of tickets sold by UA, refundable tickets are a pretty small chunk f that whole.
as most of the time if the website is giving you a suspicious non-favorable result just call in...
