And the "old old" A320 series didn't even have wingtip fences let alone winglets! The original A320-100 series (of which BA operated a fleet of 10 from the 1988 BCAL takeover) was this type and BA retired them about 6-7 years ago.

point of order, only BUSB - BUSF were -100s with “clean” wings. There were only 22 ever made and 2 crashed, a higher crash rate than Concorde! BUSG through BUSK were -200s with the ...s that are on most A320 series aircraft.
