As you fly a lot on AY, the perks of Plat vs Gold are considerable, both on AY and on your domestic JL flights. So if you wouldn't make it by points or legs, it's really worth to exchange redeemable point to status points (3:1) Even more so, if your European flights are mainly in Y - the upgrade vouchers are really valuable.
