My wife and I were caught up in the 2007 GLA terrorist attack aftermath. We landed at LHR from CAI on the Sunday when GLA was still closed to flights. As we were standing in the queue at the ticket desk to get sorted, GLA started accepting flights again so luckily we were put on a flight about 2 hours later. Baggage was tagged and off we went to departures.
Landed in GLA and went to baggage reclaim where, for a full flight, barely any baggage arrived on the carousel. Enquiries at the baggage office and was informed the cases were showing as still in LHR but they may have been put on the next flight that was arriving about 40-50 minutes later. Waited with no result so completed the forms, gave delivery details and off we went with the baggage tracer reference.
Finally delivered 18 days later with lots of phone calls in between to BA to try and get updates. On one of the calls, the BA agent informed me that they had traced the bags. They had been put in the wrong holding area at LHR (International instead of Domestic). From there, and this is what got me, they were put on a BUS to Warsaw. From Warsaw, they were transferred to a holding warehouse somewhere in Italy but they couldn't give me any idea when they would be located at the holding centre and when they would be delivered (I even offered to go and look for the bags myself if they flew me out there

).
So our bags had a little European tour to themselves before we were finally reunited (still with the GLA labels attached).
