Question: Gold this year, purchasing tickets for next year...
As my profile indicates, I am currently Gold, but due to a job change that hasn’t required much air travel, I will likely not requalify as Gold in 2004. In fact, the way things are going, I’ll be lucky to make MVP next year. My few trips on AS this year have so far been recreational.
My question is this: As a Gold, can I purchase a trip this year for travel in January of next year and still receive a complimentary Gold upgrade? Or will I not qualify for the upgrade based on my current 2003 activity? And if I can upgrade, could my F seat assignments somehow revert back to Y after the first of the year when they realize I’m no longer Gold?
Anyone have any experience how this works? I squinted at the fine print of the MP Program Guidelines but didn’t see anything to specifically address this situation.
The good news is that it looks like I’ll be back in the air next year.
