Hello, and welcome to FT and the QR forum! As plunet said, it's just an option. I, for one, almost never check in online. If you're not a France passport holder, just make sure that your visa(s)/permission(s)/documents are all in order. You should have no problem. The advice to get to the airport a bit early is also good advice.
