Had a bit of a frustrating time on the phone with MPC this evening so wanted to get your thoughts on this

I booked an round trip economy award using Asia Miles
YVR-YYZ (Air Canada)
JFK-YVR (CX)

After ticketing MPC confirmed that there is no baggage allowance on both legs since the 1st Leg is on a Air Canada flight.

I can accept that there is no baggage on the Air Canada flight and i can pay, but they tell me i need to pay for the checked baggage on the CX flight too. There wont be a "normal" charge either as there is no such charge on CX, but instead i have to pay the "extra baggage fee".

Does anyone know if i have a leg to stand on? Or if there is anything i can do? Obviously if i knew this before ticketing then i would have looked for other options.
