Apart from Amankila where the then young manager called Guy was running the place with unrestrained passion and the food was out of this world, all other Aman experiences have been poor if not completely disappointing, except from an architectural point of view. When you are staying at Amawella and there are five members of staff to carry the managers poodles and none to serve you a cup of tea it can be a little frustrating, not to mention the then Australian chef in her dirty white t-shirt who was explaining it was impossible to get fresh fish for the menu while a group was playing mexican music at dinner, you do wonder where exactly you are. As for the housekeeping carts parked all day around the central basin at Amanjena, or there excellent Thai restaurant, exactly what I went to Marrakech for. Not to mention the appalling spa treatments and somewhat arrogant staff. Amangalla was very nice but no staff at the pool, despite charging us for drinks we were never able to order. So overall I feel a little disappointed or simply don't have the ego and overweight wallet.
