It never really mattered, anyway. Reality is, it's "DELTA Vacations," and even if the product was still managed by AmEx, like it was prior to the merger, the average Joe will associate it being DL and thus DL needs to stand behind its name... no different than how UA had to own up to the Dr. Dao incident (which happened on Republic Airlines) and McDonalds's has to own up to franchisee's mistakes, FedEx Ground contractor's mistakes, etc.
In this case, it doesn't matter; the OP is being absolutely ridiculous if he/she feels entitled to any level of compensation or substitution. Hopefully DL Vacations is able to find a deal for the OP and give him/her a discount to sweeten it.
