Any credit card does this. The amount approves pending the merchant taking the funds within a set time. BA only want the transaction with the approval code. After which the approval is retracted.

South West Railway did the same to me yesterday via a faulty ticket machine.

It's just a case of keeping an eye out for the next week that you aren't billed twice by your card company and then getting on with your life.
