I just tried as well. Didn't actually ask to get transferred to retention, just went through the automated system and said I wanted to cancel my card. Got transferred there, and got an automated message saying it's closed due to Irma. Canceling my personal Platinum, the new higher $550 annual fee just posted on my latest statement.
