I do find it all rather odd, I must say.

To obsessively clean armrests, tray tables etc., then accept a "hot towel" and wipe it all over your hands, is putting a lot of faith (rather misplaced I suspect) in the anti-bacterial compliance of BA's suppliers, delivery people, tong providers, cabin crew...

I've done a ton of flying over the last couple of years, never once wiped down a surface, and never once had any food-related discomfort, except for a full belly

For those with a genuine medical need, you have my sympathy and please carry on wiping; everyone else is just kidding themselves !
