Thanks for your replies. As far as spending more time perhaps at a later date. This will be the first time for my husband and I am hoping that it will whet his appetite so he will want to return. He needed to take a few days off from his practice and we decided to do something that we had always talked about. We have been to Santa Barabara and explored that area. For personal reasons we will spend 2 days in Monterey, then drive to Hearst Castle and spend the night in Morro, hopefully at the Morro Inn. The next morning we will leave for Santa Barbara though take the drive leisurely as our plane will leave the following morning. We have a place to stay in Santa Barbara. I have read that it may take 4 or 5 hours to drive from Monterey to Hearst Castle, is that about right?? If so we will need to leave Monterey early to make a 3pm reservation at the castle. While in Monterey, perhaps we will drive down the coast to visit Carmel so we can stop and enjoy the view and not worry about making our Hearst reservation. Any suggestions are appreciated.
