I def expected Queenstown area to be busy, wasn't as sure about Takaka...

We're very flexible so going to to book mainly around flight prices, but defintiely worth keeping NZ holidays in mind. Also, I am coming home (tentatively!!!) at the end of March, so I wouldn't want my mom to visit me sooo close to the end of my own trip!
If possible I'd start the trip in the last few days of Jan. Schools will be starting in that week, so families will head home. The weather in Feb is often much more pleasant and settled in Feb than Jan.
