Looking at Dec 15 flights and 4/7 options that day have FOUR flights. Ridiculous.
Then don't take the itinerary with one connection and two more stops. No is forcing you to do so.
Did you even look at the arrival times or run straight to FlyerTalk to complain about the existence of options you don't like? Did you want Southwest to kill the other 4 options just because you're not interested in them?
G=good option; B=bad option
G: You can leave at 6 AM, change planes in MDW, and arrive at 11:20 AM.
B: You could leave at the same time, make three stops (of which one is a connection), and arrive at 6:10 PM.
B: You could leave 45 minutes later, make three stops (of which one is a connection), and arrive at 5:10 PM.
B: You could sleep in and leave at 1:55 PM, make three stops (of which one is a connection), and arrive at 12:55 AM.
B: You could sleep in even later and leave at 3:00 PM, make three stops (of which one is a connection), and arrive at 11:45 PM.
G: You could have most of the day available in Washington DC, leave at 4:25 PM, make one connection in DEN and one extra stop along the way, and arrive at 12:30 AM.
G: Exactly the same as above but connect in LAX and arrive at 12:55 AM.
None of these involve three connections; not even two.
The four "bad" itineraries are not bad at all if the three good ones are expensive and the bad ones are cheap (or worse still, the three good ones are sold out).
There was a similar thread in the AA forum where someone complained that AA offered a crazy routing for 25,000 miles. Well then don't take it and spend twice as many miles for the nonstop.
Having lots of choice is just awful, isn't it?
