Again, card applied in Aug 2016, paid fee and got credit in Sept 2016. My card got renewed on Sept 1 2017 and AF $450 charged on Sept 1, 2017. Since you applied last August, your travel credit is per year based on statement closing date (not calendar date).
You had a travel credit for 2016 from when you were approved in August 2016 through your December 2016 statement. Your travel credit for 2017 began when that statement closed and presumably has been used already, which is why you aren't seeing a credit for your recent purchase. Your travel credit for 2018 will begin when your December 2017 statement closes.
