Wanderlust does not provide the option for comp. breakfast as it is a Design Hotel with limited or no extra benefit for SPG Plats. Only benefit is the bonus points.

I've never been to Singapore so I have no idea about how easy it id's to get from certain places. How far out is that DT location compared to the HGI? DT in Johor Bahru is in a different country (Malaysia) so that means going through customs and immigration if you need to be in Singapore. Expect travel time of more than an hour at peak times on weekdays for travel into downtown Singapore. More troublesome to get a taxi or uber as well.
If you need to be in Singapore, just stay in the HGI. Cost of transport and hassle of immigration make it not worth staying in the DT.
