Kimpton Everly Hotel (Hollywood, CA) Master Thread
After staying at The Everly this past (Labor Day) weekend, I'm of the belief that this is the best Kimpton in Los Angeles (including the Shorebreak in Huntington Beach). Here's why:
Location - Unlike the Palomar, Wilshire, and Shorebreak, the Everly is very convenient to the freeways (it's right off the 101). This is important to me as I like to visit a lot of different parts of the Southland and that means driving a lot. The location also puts you in walking distance of some of the touristy parts of Hollywood like the Pantages Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, etc. The Red Line subway at Hollywood and Vine is about a five minute walk. If you are there on Sunday, the Hollywood Farmer's Market is a must.
Property - The hotel is very bright and open; the lobby has high ceilings and opens into a large gathering space where the Ever Bar is along with lots of sofa and chairs (along with a pool table). It's a great place for Wine Hour. I give them credit for serving a red, white, and rose along with snacks from JaneQ which is more than some of the other Kimptons do. We didn't get a suite, but the king room with a view of the Hollywood sign was very comfortable and the soundproofing was great; we hardly heard any noise from the 101.
Staff - The staff was great and super-friendly; this includes the valets and servers at JaneQ.
Food - We had breakfast at JaneQ twice and ordered snacks from the Ever Bar during Wine Hour. The food was top notch.
Inner Circle Benefits - This is where this property shines. When you check in, you are given unique hotel keys with "Inner Circle" labels. If you show this at JaneQ for breakfast, you get a complimentary upgrade from the free cup of coffee to any of the other coffee (including espresso) or tea drinks on the menu. You also get a free basic pastry. I was told that there's a special Chef's Taste for dinner, but I didn't get a chance to eat there (Roscoe's Fried Chicken and Waffles is also in walking distance).
Overall, we had a great stay and will be back as soon as we can.
