Not true Cathay needs OW more than OW needs Cathay. If Cathay pulls out tomorrow OW would have basically next to nil presence in China save a few flights provided by JAL. This was also why Cathay did all it could to deny China Eastern's original attempt to join OW. So they can keep the monopoly.
