It's true. I am flying to the US midwest and I could have paid a premium to fly into ORD via CX or take AA via DFW; given my personal travel is on low fare economy, and the fact that I get practically no club points for the CX flight under the new MPC, I chose AA.
Now, if AA serves me up in a horrific plane with terrible service, I will go back to CX. But all else being (somewhat) equal, no doubt the AA expansion and now HX will be a boon to travelers like me, at the expense of CX (not that they care much anyway).
