The train's a bit slow, with quite a few stops, and you have to transfer once you're in the city to another line. Further, you have to buy a transit card from a very unhelpful machine first. Good luck figuring the thing out.

If you don't want to splurge on a taxi, then to Taksim I'd certainly suggest the HAVAS airport bus over the train.
