Sadly though the airtrain is SLOW. It takes me 20 minutes to get from Downtown Brooklyn to Howard Beach and another 20 minutes for me to get from the Howard Beach stop to AA T8/9 because its the last stop. It is a lot nicer than the bus but of course the bus was free......When the airtrain was being proposed, I seem to remember a pledge that the airtrain would be paid from from airport PFC's. Do other airports charge 2.5 times the local subway fare for such a short train ride? In Mexico City it costs $0.20 to get from anywhere in the city to the airport! I know that this is NY but I suppose that we are beholden to the PANYNJ.
