I've been turned down taking any photos/videos of a luxury hotel before - it's very frustrating because that's what really sells - and as much as I want to promote the hotel, I have no material of my own to do so. I was asked to use the hotel's official photos - which I use anyway, but I also try to send my photos/videos where possible so my guest has a good idea.
I've even been turned down a visit (the hotel does not entertain any such things) - it's not even a luxury hotel. Bizarre...I was thinking of doing a mini-staycation (or two, or three...) there but wanted to see what the rooms actually looked like before I committed to it. And their official photos are just not adequate.
If a hotel turns down a guest/industry partner from taking any photos, I can only assume it's because they have something to hide. But then they lead the tour - surely they would only show sections that are 'photogenic'?
1000% agree. I wouldn't stay somewhere that wouldn't let my agent photograph the place or wouldn't send me anything but stock images. I don't understand why properties would ask industry people to remove social media images, vids, etc. It's FREE publicity that helps sell some your place better
