Boeing does not have not have a plane to directly replace the 772s. 787-10 does not seem to be direct replacement for the 772s.
+1. IMHE the A350 blows the doors off the 787, especially in Y where the seats are wider.
I see this as a very good decision, and the first actual "flyer friendly" thing that United has done in a long, long time. I had assumed United would go with 787-10s to replace the 772s (which are going to become unbearable at 3-4-3 in Y) sticking with fleet commonality and a spreadsheet approach to passenger comfort.
