This issue for me is that I view targeted ads in the same way I would view a creepy neighbor who comes knocking at the front door 3 or 4 times a day asking if you want to be friends.
And, I view an organization that uses targeted ads to be no better than the telemarketer that ignores the Do Not Call list. So, I view ad blockers with the same gratitude that I give to the Nomorobo** utility that I use to block tele-shillers.
This is a weird way to view the world. They aren't knocking on your door or calling unsolicited. You're choosing to visit websites that have ads.
