I had to ask the phone reservation agents to touch a reservation because we wanted to switch an international reservation to a domestic reservation - made with points and with early bird checkin tied to it. No choice but to call in because the website would not let us change international to domestic - it wanted us to cancel and rebook - but that would have erased the early bird checkin.

I said all of this to say that the price (points required) dropped and I was able to refare that reservation this afternoon even though I had called in about that PNR and the agent had touched it. We saved almost 3000 points - and no problem changing the flight and the early bird checkin still stayed with it.

I always thought once a phone agent did ANYTHING at all with the reservation (except to look at it!) then any changes could only be made by calling in again - not in my experience !
