The problem with trying to correct the name, and multiple airlines being involved, is that the TA might be in one system, the ticketing airline in another, and each other airline in their own. Correcting the name on BA's side will correct it on the TA side - but the other airlines? They might not get the message, nor the new ticket number, which will look like an unticketed booking, subject to cancellation.
BA has to be sure that all the different systems get the message; any doubt and it's just not worth the risk. You either live with the mixed up letters or start over.
By Live with it do you mean just travel and hope for the best?
