Trouble with QR Vietnam destinations at present is they are sky high from UK and EU, perhaps as the counterpart to their "Pho Phare" of a few weeks back. Better avios earning and better fare if choosing to do it as BA codeshare.
You could check if ex-EU connecting at another UK port on QR with BA codes would work, as they do fly to many places in UK - DOH. I never looked at that alternative as I am usually fine with connecting at LHR.
Further alternatives to earn TP ex-EU to HKG.
