Excellent idea!
HKG seems very expensive that weekend, but it is during CES, so I'm not surprised.
For £1,532, I can do AMS-LHR-BKK & SIN-LHR-AMS - which, helpfully, gets me out of the return from BKK and does indeed put me on a better flight.
I'd obviously like to find a way to reach SIN without going LHR-BKK, but it's proving rather challenging!
