My partner and I went to Tahiti last year and didn't find it gay un-friendly at all.

There are a few gay bars in the capital city but they are certainly not worth the trip or even a visit.

Most people only stay a few days on Tahiti and then move on to the stunning neighbouring islands.

We spent a week on Bora Bora and loved every minute of the stay. This place is indescribable. We stayed in a over-water bungalow at the Pearl Beach Resort. The surrounding lagoon is like a huge swimming pool full of colourful fish. Highly recommended.

French Polynesia is a great romantic destination for couples. It is a rather expensive destination.

Air New Zealand has direct flights to Tahiti from Auckland.
