I was upgraded a lot for YVR-HKG in that same time frame as E35 as well.
But both of those routes are rare to have an e35k upgrade to J since 2014 due to numerous reasons. More business class purchases, eupgrade devaluation, eup copay, LMU, bid to upgrade, reduction in R space, etc.
