I will be flying from TXL via MUC on LH to FCO for a quick overnight visit before flying to MUC the following evening. Is there a chance LH might let me check one of my luggage pieces just to MUC on my outbound so I don't have to bring it with me to Rome? I'm assuming not, but figure it's worth asking.

Failing that, might the LH lounge at FCO hold it for me overnight? I'll be flying business class both directions.

It looks like FCO has a cheap left luggage service if nothing else is possible.
