I have a recent experience with one cashier at MC who I've dealt with before and I'm sure she knows how to do split tender. It's been months since I saw her and I was buying $1K MO plus 70 cents cash. Soon as I said $500 on my first debit, she asked to see card so I showed her GCMVGC and she said "this won't work without a PIN". I said I have a PIN so she proceeded to swipe it on her end. Before I input PIN I told her $500 and she said I know (but did not key in amount so total to be taken from that card is $1000). Needless to say paper printed with error 51 Debit not available I knew what was going on, kept my cool and just canceled without telling her I knew she was doing it wrong on purpose. From hereon, I will avoid this cashier knowing she will mess up transactions...because she wants to.
