Gotta love the new AirTrain...so nice! I used it just to get from the Terminal to the hotel shuttles and loved it.

Specifically...
The 30-day MetroCard for AirTrain is valid on the first day of use and expires at midnight on the 30th day of use. It can be purchased at MetroCard Vending Machines with the AirTrain logo located in Howard Beach and Jamaica stations and at MetroCard vendors in and around the airport.
I bet that the Hudson News outlets there have them. I bought a MetroCard at LGA there once. If they are "out," ask them where you can get one in the terminal...
