It was AC's last flight of the day out of SFO (no red-eye that day), so they had to fetch the concierge to run me a BP. But she was busy helping a VIP at the time (he was incapable of walking to T3 on his own), so I was getting worried. I think I was handed my BP outside of security around T-20.
SD was almost scared when I asked for food (I had been told there were no J meals), but then showed my BP (I was the only revenue passenger in J, S100K, and LT07). But I got some snacks

But to the OPs question, I'm assuming FPs never go on sale? So really it's best to leave it until 2
days before you book (not the flight), unless you decide to do it last minute in which case you may have issues... which only SE status is likely to resolve.
