Onboard AA #169, LAX-NRT, Seat 6L. This -9 aircraft (N826AN) is so new it still has that "new car" smell. Seat is very comfortable for sitting. Foot space looks ample for sleep/recline. Plenty of small storage spaces around the seat, one in aisle armrest, another along window, plus more where the wired IFE/seat controller resides. Huge overhead above each aisle seat. In general, ergonomics are a big positive. Minimal (almost no) noise from either galley, fore or aft. Windows all seem to darken just fine. Only quirk I’ve experienced is that the overhead light control on the seat/light control panel next to me doesn’t work. It does work on the IFE controller, so no big deal. Atmosphere really is nice. Definitely feels less dry than other aircraft. Cabin crew seems in good spirits. Capt let me have a quick look around the cockpit preflight, which is spacious, with lots of full color displays. Too bad I’m not an avionics guy. Anyway, double thumbs up so far for the -9. Flying J on a CX 359 and F on the AA 77W on my return (via HKG), so will have a chance for relatively contemporaneous compare and contrast in less than a week….Oh, and internet works great.
