Thomas Cook Flight Delay
Hello everyone,
I was supposed to fly out from Boston to Manchester UK in June of this year with Thomas Cook but the flight was delayed by over 24 hours. The airline did not provide any information or assistance in terms of lodging, food, or redirected flights.
After waiting 14 hours for a ticketing agent to show up, they were only able to provide assistance checking in to the delayed flight. We opted not to continue forward for health reasons, and paid for a flight back home (inside the US) out of pocket. I'm trying to understand what our options are. Thomas Cook has offered €600, but they won't entertain any expenses.
From the flight regulations, I'm not clear if we should expect reimbursement only for the missed flight and our return flight; reimbursement plus the penalty for flights delayed over 4 hours; or if we can also try to recoup expenses that were lost like a rental car or lost hotel booking at our destination. I've seen several mentions of court cases but my searching is overwhelmed with companies that want to fight for me, without answering what we should actually expect back.
My apologies if this is in the wrong section, buy I appreciate any guidance.
