From UA, should I be able to get original routing credit from UA in this situation at least?
Yes, they should book you in F on the OAL if seats are available. I had this happen last year. Booked in P, flight cancelled due to MX, everyone was pushed onto the next flight, I was listed a standby only since they cancelled a 757-300 and the next flight was a 737-900 and was probably overbooked by a hundred. I called to be rebooked on AA and the agent did it, but he put me in Y. When I pointed out that I booked a P class ticket, he said that I could call for a refund. I HUACA'ed and got an agent that put me in P on AA.

If the OAL isn't a *A carrier, then you can claim ORC and double dip in that airline's program. In my case, I got my ORC (which posted incorrectly as a Y fare, although I wasn't close enough to a threshold to care about the missing PQM) and attached my AA number at check-in so I received miles and class of service bonuses on AA as well.

If the OAL is a *A carrier, then you'd only be able to request ORC.

There was an anecdotal report of someone being refused mileage credit or ORC or something like that when trying to double dip between UA and DL (with the reasoning that one airline claimed that the other already granted miles), but I don't think that's the norm.

I wholeheartedly agree. Does anyone know if the DOT agrees with us?
