I have found flights usng the ITA Matrix tool that I now want to book, but I don't seem to be able to book online either with an OTA or via the BA booking system. The flights are BA/CX London to Australia via HKG with 48 hours in HKG on the way back
I would rather not pay BA phone booking charges but I am sure I have seen something saying that there is a way of avoiding them? If i have the ITA matrix info in front of me when I phone can I get the same price from BA?
Any advice? I am BA Silver.
Also I am booking flights for 2 people myself and partner, but we are travelling the outwards flight on different dates but returning from Australia on the same flights. Is there a way of getting it noted that we are travelling together for the return flights? I assume these flights cant be booked on a singe PNR.
If you call to book you can't avoid the charge. Unless you can use a OTA either separately or via an ita plug in such as ITA powertools I don't see what other option you have. Bear in mind if any changes are required I think you will find the frustration of dealing with most OTAs will far outweigh your booking fee saving.
You can of course say that you can't get ba.com to price it up and the agent may waive the fee, but BA policy would actually not be to waive it in this circumstance.
You will also not be able to GUF/UuA using an OTA, but you could do these things if booked with BA.
You can get a note on each booking referencing the other (called TCP) but tbh I am not sure it would achieve very much. Why are you wanting to do this out of interest.
