Hertz quoted me a low rate for a compact car when I was not logged in, but when I log in and try to make a reservation, it no longer shows compact or economy cars as an option. My profile says I prefer an intermediate but even if I select "show me all", I still am not shown rates for an economy or a compact. If I try to select compact, it's treated in the pull-down menu as compact/intermediate, and when I select that, I still don't get offered anything below an intermediate. It's clearly in Hertz's advantage for me to rent a more costly car, but it doesn't make for happy Hertz #1 Club members.
