Personal experience with DSW. I purchased something with Samsung pay, so my receipt had a dummy CC number, not the original one. When I returned the item with the receipt, I told the cashier that last 4 digits of CC won't match since I had used Samsung pay. She just asked me to go ahead and insert the CC I had used for the purchase, to process the refund. I inserted a CC. Turns out I had inserted different CC than what was used for purchase. Still, my refund went through. So, technically, I transferred the balance from one CC to another CC without any fees.
