I have both AmEx Plat and CSR, and got both of them a few months ago. I agree with you on the perks, and it's now really starting to become obvious. I stayed in 4 different Hilton properties in the last month (1 night at each.. road trip) and the benefits of Hilton Honors Gold really paid off, like free breakfast and room upgrades.
I don't spend enough room nights per year to earn that status otherwise, and I prefer it that way (I like travel, but I also like my own home and bed), so getting elite hotel status from AmEx Plat is a great benefit to me.
