As for compensation, not likely, though you should get up to 5K in Aeroplan miles for the delay. You should also be able to claim mileage on your connecting flight for your Aeroplan account [assuming you were booked on a STAR carrier originally] even though you were put onto BA. And if you have a oneworld account, you should have claimed the BA flight in that one. [So you can double dip in such cases.] Not sure AC owes you anything more as they did get you to your destination within 24-hours of your original schedule. I agree it is a pain now that the MLL is in the main terminal and your gate in the mid-field one. In the past, such delays on 856 were regular occurances so one could pop up and down between the gate and the MLL until the flight was really ready to go. Not really practical now. That's why I will route myself through YUL for most overseas flights when I can, and I have to take AC. At least for the next two years...
