Chemical engineering background, now in major projects, specifically the commissioning and startup phases. I work with other global companies in nice parts of the world that are helping to design and build plants in the not-so-nice parts of the world, so my job has me travelling to both.
Of note, with about 10 years of experience I am very junior for this role.
If you're a new hire and looking for high travel frequency it might be a bit harder to find. You might want to look at smaller firms that are offer nearly exclusively high travel positions (that also end up with high turnover due to people having kids and quitting).
At larger corporations, you can specify you want high travel but will likely be slotted with the larger batch of new hires in whatever employment gaps they have. If you keep pushing though you can probably get to a high travel role by the 5-10 year mark (at this point your competition for high-travel jobs won't be as stiff and you'll be able to provide unique value).
