OK, let's be more clear here. Any domestic segment will credit as a domestic segment, regardless of whether it is part of an international trip or not. The exception is direct flights, i.e. YYZ-YVR-SYD (all on AC33 or 34 or whatever the flight number is) will credit as YYZ-SYD and be international. On Aeroplan, you will earn miles on all AC fare buckets, provided it's not a non-rev ticket or anything. With other FFP's, it depends on the specific program.
