I frequently visit a camp that has a varying number of resident buffalo bulls. At night they graze and sleep right in camp.

I regularly get back to camp rather late (midnight or so) when everybody is fast a sleep. I first go to the kitchen and get dessert from the fridge, then retire to my tent. That often means walking or sidling past the local buffalo, with a slice of cheesecake on a plate in the one hand, and the rest of my stuff in the other. That becomes really interesting when a buffalo is snoring right next to the path. I walk barefoot, the lawn is full of Devil's Thorn, so detouring is only an option if the other path is not obstructed. Usually I just squeeze past. I think the buffalo know me, they just stare and keep chewing the cud. Then there are all the hyaenas and everything else that runs around camp at night. It's almost like a miniature bush walk.
