Somewhat off-topic, but have any of you slowed down with churning these cards? Now that we have moved our main vacation to peak time due to school, I'm finding it next to impossible to get good redemption on miles, with MileSAAver awards being virtually non-existent. I've thought about simply keeping one card open for the free checked baggage benefit, but switching to a 2% cash back card for the bulk of my spending.
With the current mailer churning gravy train going at near light speed, who cares? In two player mode it is easy to collect over 1M miles / year (currently expecting ~ 1.5 M between my wife and I) so just do the regular redemptions and consider getting Milesaver awards a bonus if and when you do.
Or just stay with partners, which is where the sweet spot has been for a while anyway. Or pay $s for domestic feeder legs in Y and do awards for the rest.
Or mix and match award levels for the family.
IMHO it's never been this easy to get this many miles, even at the peak of 100K exec churning.
