Does the card have to be open to get the benefit?
My specific case - I've booked some travel for early 2018 and the airlines tickets were paid via the Sapphire Reserve. I'm thinking of not renewing the card at my annual renewal in October.
So, what would happen if I wanted to make a claim against the trip delay / cancellation benefit (or for the broader question, any of the benefits of the card like extended warranty, purchase protection etc.)
